Because the brightness brings a nice effect to the colours at the bottom and the the green really shines more. It's small because it's a avatar? 100x100.

It's really nice and bright, I like it.
If I were to change some things, it'd be the "Vero" font color. It'd be much better if it were all one color.
The brightness seems to be an issue because it doesn't go too well with the bottom of the picture, which is dark. If the brightness were toned down but the font stayed the same, it'd make it stand out much more.
